  • Anode cup and methods of fabrication for medical grade electrochemical cells

    Publication number: 20060024567

Abstract: Lithium is a soft malleable metal and sticks to most materials when a fresh surface is exposed. Currently lithium anodes are pressed in a die with temporary polymer components protecting the pressing die. During anode pressing, the lithium anode sticks to these temporary components. They facilitate easy release of the lithium anode from the die via operator intervention. The pressed anode is then manually wrapped with a micro-porous polymeric separator material and built into the battery. This process is labor intensive and would be difficult to automate. By utilizing a formed polymer cup on the anode, both the anode pressing process and separator sealing process would be simplified and have potential options for automation. The cup would allow easy release from the anode pressing die and provide some of the insulation of the anode from regions of opposite polarity.

  • Portable cordless phone holder

    Patent number: 4802211

Abstract: A portable, self contained, lightweight cordless phone holder is provided for the user to permit the free use of both hands and have virtual freedom of movement within the range of the unit while at the same time having ready access and use of the cordless phone. The mechanism is a device made of lightweight malleable metal which permits it to be bent or adjusted to rest on the shoulders of the principle user just below the juncture of the neck and shoulders. The malleable metal permits the principle user to adjust the device for his individual body contours for the most comfortable position while being used. It is basically of a rectangular plan shape comprised of two L-shaped components, an obliquely vertical phone support or cradle extended from one end of the one of the L-shaped members and adjusting straps under the arms so that they hold the mechanism in place while the holder is being used.

  • Snowshoe frame with varied cross section

    Patent number: 7331129

Abstract: A snowshoe of the type with a peripheral frame formed of metal tubing and a stretched and suspended deck connected to the frame has different regions of the frame partially flattened into an approximate elliptical cross section, the major dimensions of the ellipses being in different planes in different regions of the frame. Most of the nose loop at the front end of the snowshoe frame is elongated in cross section within the plane of the nose loop, while the sides of the frame, aft of the binding suspension, may be elongated in a generally vertical plane. The orientation of these elongated cross sections in specific regions affords more strength to the frame where needed, enabling the frame to be produced of lighter material. In addition, selected local regions of the frame can be swaged to form recesses at desired sides of the frame to receive and hold the binding suspension bands or deck connecting material that wraps over the frame.
