These people are scum of the solar system. They post prices that are only valid if you join a «club» for $ 29.00 a year. My purchase was around $ 35.00, as I recall, so it was not an option. I decided to pass on the sale because I don’t do business with imbeciles, and made sure the card I used would be declined. The next day, the clowns call me at 8 in the morning to disturb me. I work all night. I blocked them for calling, and unsubscribed from their phony emails. They still send them to me almost daily. I will never rest until I have punished them for what they do to me (legally, of course), to help others who may be considering doing business with them. Vomits from hell.

Some great bargains, hidden among a lot of garbage! If you know a lot about the products you are shopping, and are very careful to read the description AND the reviews, you can find some real bargains at Sportsmans Guide. The first thing to know is to NEVER buy anything that doesn’t have a goodly number of customer reviews. SG is generally honest about letting customers post reviews, which is why you will often find items in their catalog with dozens of 1-star reviews (unlike some stores that post only the good reviews). ALWAYS READ the reviews and start with the lowest ratings first, some will be from customers who didn’t read the listing or who didn’t know what they were ordering, but most will have good information about exactly what might be wrong with an item. This is especially true for military surplus items that make up nearly half the SG catalog. Many such items are «new» in that they have never been issued, but have been sitting on a shelf in some East European military warehouse for decades. Leather left on the shelf for 30 years drys out or gets moldy for example. WHEN (not IF) you get an item that doesn’t match the description, call SG Customer Service on the phone. They will take the item back (even most «non-returnable» items) and will send you a free shipping label. NEVER order anything on backorder even if they show a date when it is supposed to be available. To be blunt, they LIE about the «expected availability date» — this is not just poor communication with their suppliers, they will repeatedly claim a backordered item is expected to arrive in 12 weeks so they can dodge the FTC rules about items not expected within 21 days. Then when the «expected» date comes, they will just say the item is due in another week or two. Another recurring issue with SG is their packing department. Do you remember those old Samsonite luggage commercials with the gorilla tossing the suitcase around? Well, SG much have hired that gorilla and all his relatives. So far as I can tell, when they pack your order they must put a big box in the middle of the warehouse then throw all your items into the box from at least 10 feet away, then drop some paper or bubble wrap on top, close the box and ship it. The outer box is always much bigger than needed and rarely has enough padding. But, again, if an item arrives broken, they will take it back if you call them.

Awful customer service! I do mean AWFUL! I bought an EEA B6P pistol from them for a really low price. I picked the pistol up from my FFL dealer and on the way home I noticed I couldn’t get the magazine to drop out of the well. I literally had to hold the magazine release button down while yanking on the bottom of the magazine, and it scrubs like crazy coming out and going back in. It is OBVIOUSLY a defective pistol. I call SG and they say, oh since you’ve already signed for it there’s nothing we can do. Nice. So I call EAA and they promise a call-back by the end of the day. Did I get a call-back? Of course not. I was sold a defective product and SG feels they have no obligation to make it right. I bought this pistol for concealed carry but there’s no way I would carry it considering that it takes time and effort to pull the magazine out and insert another. I’m sure I can just call time-out and the bad guy will patiently wait while I struggle with changing mags.
In short, Sportsman’s Guide SUCKS.

What a bunch of unconscionable scoundrels. Despite assurances (and indications from the preference section of their web page) that I am NOT on their SPAM lists, I continue to get multiple daily mailings from them and their related businesses.
What’s really inanely stupid is they send out special «order now» on stuff (22LR ammo) that they have not stocked in months.

I don’t understand their reasoning behind their pricing? I asked the mgr about how they price their products at the discount store. He said its the same price rates in the catalog. I said these are discontinued, damaged and returned product. Why don’t you discount it? They wouldn’t give me a good explanation. Why go there if they won’t discount product in the store?

The Sportsman’s Guide has awesome products and on paper gives you the following guarantee.
«Order With Complete Confidence! Your satisfaction is Guaranteed! Period!»
Emblem next to the above statement states «SATISFACTION 100% GUARANTEE»
Pretty powerful guarantee, would make most people feel really comfortable with placing an order with them. HOWEVER, they don’t live up to it and their Customer Service is non existent. They received one star because it was required.
We purchased ammunition from their website and never received it. We had it sent to our office since a signature is required in California and we know Federal Express has a policy to not deliver to businesses on weekend and will not leave a package at a closed business. Unfortunately Federal Express delivered it to the wrong address, obtained a signature and even had a gps location for where it was delivered. They were very helpful. This information was provided to customer service team at The Sportsman’s Guide who refused to file a claim with Federal Express. We disputed the charge with our credit card company and they sent us to collection. Federal Express wouldn’t allow me to file a claim in their name because I was the recipient not the sender.
I have a challenge for all that read this. Just for fun, call the customer service number at 18888440667 and try to get the last name of anyone in charge. Customer service doesn’t even know who their CEO is. I was told they don’t have a credit manager and the rep wasn’t sure if she could give out anyone’s name.
Bottom line. Beware of what you purchase and where you have it delivered. Should you end up with a problem you can’t resolve, Diane is the Credit Department lead and Jay Berlin is the CEO (at least as of 2009). This information came from the internet, not Customer Service:)

They have some decent deals. They also sell junk at inflated prices. Their customer service is awful, but they do speak English, so at least you can understand the stupid things they are saying. Their website is incredibly buggy and clunky. I ordered a few items. But, there are other places to get similar stuff who are much more pleasant to deal with, so I won’t be going back to these guys. They automatically add a couple of bucks in bogus charges to every order — be sure to uncheck the easily missed boxes at checkout to delete the charges.

Already irked with them as they took an order and keep pushing the ship date back, its been almost 6 months now and still no product.
Tried to place a new order today, catalog code 246 597, the HQ Military Surplus catalog.
Page 59, item # H3M-134 853 AR combo wrench for $ 19.79. No notes on it being a restricted item, not shat it should be, its a wrench for gods sake! Try to place the order and am told on the phone by customer service that its a restricted item because its a «tactical wrench» and they dont ship tactical items to CA.
Guess they need to check themselves, because when I add the AR sling plate, an actual AR part they are ready to ship it to me with no problems. Same page, just to the right of that «tactical» wrench. Item H3M-234 345. Added it to my cart and went through checkout with no problems.
I then canceled the entire order.
If you are going to try to follow the laws of the individual states, great. Please show me any law that restricts these wrenches. Whats that, you cant? Thats because by the customer service (not order desk) person told me that there is none restricting it, that Sportsmans Guide is arbitrarily restricting items as they see fit.
I will not support a company that does things like this.

We doubt we will ever order anything from here again.
Today is Monday and we placed an order last Thursday. Their online order status says the shipment date was supposed to be Friday via UPS Ground but it still has not shipped out.
When we called them, they said it actually will not go out via UPS Ground but rather a US Post service and it may not even go out today. So, their website order status lies.
We are not happy at all and will avoid this company in the future.

Possibly the worst customer service and most incompetent company I have encountered. They advertise products they do not stock and send you something else anyway. The product they decided to send was faulty. When I tried to return it they would not give a refund as it was a gift, so I asked for a replacement. They then decided to ignore my instructions for a replacement and refunded part of the cost back to the gift giver but not the shipping. 9 emails and 2 phone calls required to sort this out and I still have no chair, so I have ended up losing out on a wedding gift. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
